Hi to everyone, especially the ones that have left GL due to obvious reasons. I have really missed Erin and Chary and others as well as the wonderful wealth of medical info, pigtures etc. and am thankful to see all of you here. Fortunately for me I found out info about this new forum on GL two weeks ago due to a string about it there.
My thanks to Chad and BOC for starting this forum! It feels like GL used to be. I take that back, as this is a warmer atmosphere than GL probably ever was but then again I'm somewhat of a newbie to Guinea Pig Forums....almost one year now off and on.
Let me introduce myself. I live in the SF Bay Area and am an underpaid admin asst in Silicon Valley to one of the wealthiest entertainment software co's in the world for the last four years. Second and most important, I am a cavy slave to 4 wonderful pigsters:
-Derek(neutered male) is my sweet piggy boy I adoped through SF Animal Care and Control two years ago last month when he was four months old. He is a beautiful and sweet red satin boy that oinks instead of wheeks. Why wheek when you have three ladies to do that for you? I suspect he was dumped due to a fight because he is missing a pretty large chunk of his left ear. Their loss, my gain.
-Sarah I think is about 2 1/2 years old and came from Peninsula Humane Society in San Mateo. She is a PEW with gray ears, possibly part himalayan. I adopted her 12-07-03 and she was about 5-6 months by estimate at that time. She had been in the shelter since Oct 03. Before that she had been in the SF shelter for one month.
-Kyla came from Cavy Spirit. I adopted her on 12-19-04 at the tender age of 22 days. My first baby piggy! She is an absolute joy to be around, so much personality. She is a teddy/lemon agouti mix, but looks like an agouti with a white stripe on her nose. This girl never stops talking.
-Devon I also adopted through Cavy Spirit at the end of February. This was my first attempt at fostering. Devon was the scardest piggy I had ever been around. For this reason, as well as the fact she is a Dalmation, I could not bear to rehome her. Yes, I also have to admit I fell for her right away. So much for fostering.
Anyway, no more lurking. I am finally here, along with the book I just wrote here! |
